FUNDRAISING

We need your help. Grants and annual membership fees only pay for a portion of Audubon Dallas' programs and projects for this coming year. Audubon Dallas relies on the involvement and support of individuals like you to help us bridge the gap and conserve the birds, wildlife, wildflowers and remaining wild places of Greater Dallas. Did you know that Audubon Dallas receives only around $4.00 a year from your National Audubon Society membership fee? Please act and contribute locally!

Thanks to your support, Audubon Dallas serves thousands of our Metroplex neighbors by providing hands-on outdoor education activities for schools and scout groups, organizing family field trips to important natural areas throughout the Southwest, hosting nationally acclaimed environmental speakers at monthly chapter meetings, and producing citizen-scientist conservation programs such as the Christmas Bird Count and the Great Backyard Bird Count.

Best of all, Audubon Dallas now manages the 635-acre Cedar Ridge Preserve in southern Dallas County, maintaining the beautiful wooded trails, wildflower meadows, and natural cattail pond for the enjoyment and education of Metroplex families - free of charge.

In addition to these popular ongoing programs, Audubon Dallas is embarking on several important new initiatives this spring:

  • Upgrading and replacing trail signs at Cedar Ridge Preserve. Thanks to a generous grant from the Harry W. Bass, Jr. Foundation, we will replace many directional and informational signs throughout the Preserve over the next 12 months.
  • Repairing hiking trails at Cedar Ridge Preserve. Although diligent efforts by community volunteers have helped shore up trails eroded by water, wind and shoe, we must now hire a team of trail management experts for the next phase - a comprehensive plan for refurbishing and maintaining 10 miles of trails, bridges, boardwalks, lookouts, and ADA-compliant pathways.
  • Expanding outreach activities, particularly to underserved audiences. This April, Audubon Dallas will partner with Audubon Texas and 16 other local organizations for "DestiNature," a city-wide initiative to highlight the wealth of nature-oriented educational and recreational opportunities available to North Texans. In addition, Audubon Dallas will work with the state chapter to expand our science-based educational programs for schoolchildren, particularly in southern Dallas.

Please help Audubon Dallas expand its important conservation, outreach, and education programs in 2005 by sending your tax-deductible contribution today.
